What Is The Wealthy Affiliate University? Is It A Scam?

Here is my #1 recommendation for people with bad breath who are searching for jobs.

What is a job that someone with bad breath could do and not have to worry about other people’s opinions? Welcome to my #1 recommendation of work for people with bad breath.

Wealthy Affiliate

Wealthy Affiliate (WA), also known as Wealthy Affiliate University, is like none other. It is a site that teaches you how to become a successful blogger/writer by teaching you how to use targeted keywords, proper SEO, and choosing a good niche (basically a specific topic)..

And it’s free to join. With the free starter pack, you get two free mini courses that help you get on your way to finances freedom (plus not having any boss/co-worker telling you that they can’t work with you because of a certain reason).

With a community that is willing to share their success stories with you, and share their experience, it’s a wonder that people actually fail. But they do. And they do it for several reasons. Because they don’t have enough drive, because of other things going on in their lives, because they don’t have the time.

But if you willing to put in the effort, and if you have the time it takes for your site to get ranked well, you will succeed.

So what Is it exactly?

Good question. Like I said above, WA teaches you how to use the skills of communication in a blogging type scenario. If you can communicate pretty well, then you can easily excel at WA.

Not sure you can communicate? Ever sent an email explaining something or giving your opinion on some subject? Ever had to text someone instructions on how to do that one thing you know how to do? Well if you have, then WA should work for you.

In the free starter kit, WA teaches you four main things. Choosing a good niche, SEO (Search Engine Optimization), proper keyword searches/writing and how to use affiliate marketing (along with ads) to make money.

A niche is simply a detailed topic that you can write about. Men’s khaki shorts. A certain celebrity fan page. Clouds in the stratosphere. Anything that you are somewhat (or hope to be) knowledgeable in.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is making sure your site is one that is liked by search engines, like Google and Bing. They both have certain things for what they look for and what they think is better for a better rank. WA helps teach you what you need (and don’t need) to be optimized for search engines.

Keyword searches are simply words that people search for. For example, “clouds in the stratosphere” could be something that someone looks for. If you write a blog post on that topic and use those words in it, you have a higher chance of getting ranked in search engines. And with a higher ranking, you have a higher yield to traffic coming to your site.

Affiliate links are a way to make money. If you look on this page (and others), you’ll notice that I make a percentage of what you buy through me. Nothing is more expensive if you go through me. I just make a little, because I was the one that referred you to that product, site, or store. That, along with ads, is the main way you can make money through WA.

So, all I have to do is just write about stuff?

Basically. You may need to be able to type, have a computer, and internet. You have to make sure you have good grammar and punctuation, along with a well maintained site. But WA helps with that too. So all you need to do is just provide original content.

How much can I make?

Funny you should ask that. (Actually, I have no idea why it would be funny.) How much do you want to make? How many sites are you running? Are you running just off of affiliate links and ads, or selling a product that you yourself are selling?

With many different factors it’s hard to give you an exact amount. Enough for you to live semi-comfortable. Three pages that explain it better than me can be found here, there, and somewhere else.

Those sites will give you a pretty accurate answer, along with how to make money, and also a better time frame into how long it will take.

How much time does it take?

(You didn’t take a look at the links above, did you?)

This is a rather tricky question, as all people are different and so are all niches. I’ve seen someone make money within a few weeks, and others having it take 6-7+ months to make their first sale.

Once you make your first sale (and your pages get ranked higher on google), you’ll get more traffic to your site. The more traffic you get, the more people seeing your affiliate links and making purchases.

As the time goes you, the money usually has a snow ball effect. You start with one or two dollar purchases a month, then every few weeks, then it starts becoming every day. After a few months (or weeks, depending on how quickly it goes), you’re getting a good income of $2K-3K a month.

It all depends on how much time you put into it. If you treat this like a new business venture, then you’ll succeed even better. Pump your time and energy into it and you should be fully self supported in no later than 2 years time.

What? Two years time? What’s so great about that?

That is what I would say is the latest time frame. If you put time, effort and money into your new ‘business’, you should be able to be able to support yourself sooner.

On top of that, you get to choose how much you want to make. After those two initial years, if you want a ‘pay raise’, just write more articles, and you’ll get it, assuming you follow all the steps you have before.

Now what’s this Premium membership thingy?

So WA has two memberships. One is the free membership, which gives you access to two courses, and two free .siterubrix.com sites that you can start a website with.

Premium Membership is for those who are more serious on making money with WA. For a fee of $49 a month, you get more training, more keyword searches, up to 25 .com sites that WA hosts for you, people helping you with your site, and even the owners themselves of WA helping you out, if you need it.

If you truly are interested in starting your own blog and business, I would highly recommend joining the premium membership. If you join within the first 7 days of signing up, you can get the first month for $19. That’s 30 less than normal.

And if you don’t think it will work out, then you can stop. But if you think it will work, then you can also pay the yearly amount of $359, which is about $200 less than if you paid the monthly rate.

Well, I don’t know. I’ll have to think about it.

That’s okay. If you need a few days to discuss it with your significant other, or just think through it, or look at other reviews, then that’s fine. If though you’re interested in signing up now, you can do so here.

Hope to see you over at WA soon!
